he most exclusive way to experience the enchanting beauty of Cappadocia is through early morning hot air balloon flights. This unique experience takes place between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM. While hot air balloon flights are organized in a total of four different regions in Cappadocia, the 1st Region stands out as the most preferred by guests and requires special attention when making reservations.
In Cappadocia, every morning when weather conditions permit, a magical visual spectacle unfolds with approximately 100 balloons taking off initially, followed by another 80 balloons 30 minutes later.
There are three different balloon tour options: Standard, Deluxe, and VIP. The Standard Balloon Tour lasts 60 minutes in baskets accommodating 25-30 people. The Exclusive Deluxe Balloon Tour offers a 90-minute experience in baskets for 16-20 people. The VIP Balloon Tour, on the other hand, provides a privileged 90-minute flight for 5 people in smaller baskets.
What are the prices for balloon flights?
Balloon flight prices can vary depending on the region and various other factors. Prices are influenced by supply and demand, reservation dates, price differences among different balloon companies, payment methods, and weather conditions.
It’s important to note special circumstances related to balloon flights. Typically, children under 4 years old, pregnant women, and individuals with a fear of heights are not permitted to fly. Each passenger and equipment is covered by insurance for added security.
How to Make a Balloon Reservation?
When reserving a balloon flight, you’ll need to provide your credit card information, but payment is typically processed just a day before the flight. Please note that most companies only accept cash (in Euro, USD, or TL). You have the flexibility to cancel your reservation without any explanation up to 3 days before the flight. If you cancel closer to the flight date, the full amount might be charged to your card. However, in case of documented emergencies like health issues, cancellations can be made without penalty.
In case the flight gets canceled due to weather conditions (this could occur if local authorities prohibit flights due to strong winds), and you made the payment in cash, you’ll receive a refund on the same day. If the payment was made by credit card, it might take approximately 1 week for the refund process to be completed.
How Does the Flight Day Unfold?
On the flight day, you will be picked up from the hotel in the early morning and taken to the company’s office. A light breakfast will be provided here, followed by heading to the takeoff area. After a flight lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes, there will be a landing and celebratory activities. Then you’ll be transported back to the company office and returned to your hotel. The total duration of this arrangement is about 3 hours.
Considering that nights in Cappadocia are cooler, and taking into account the temperature at balloon altitude, we recommend bringing a jacket or coat suitable for the season. We also suggest carrying equipment like your mobile phone or camera to capture the stunning valley views in photographs :).
